'Hamlet'
Under the direction of acclaimed director Rob Melrose, Stanford University undergraduates will stage William Shakespeare's intense tragedy "Hamlet" about a Danish prince seeking truth and vengeance. 'Sunday in the Park with George'
Foothill Music Theatre will put on a production of "Sunday in the Park with George," a Broadway musical -- with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and story by James Lapine -- that centers on a fictionalized Georges Seurat. Feb. 19-March 8, Thursday, 7:30 p.m.; Friday and Saturday, 8 p.m.; Sunday, 2 p.m. $12-$32. Foothill College, Lohman Theatre, 12345 El Monte Road, Los Altos Hills.

Stanford Afro-Latin Jazz Ensemble Winter Concert
The Stanford Afro-Latin Jazz Ensemble will present a program that blends songs from the North and Latin American traditions, including pieces composed or performed by El Gran Combo, Cesar "Pupy" Pedroso, Joao Gilberto, Stanley Turrentine, Jimmy Van Heusen and Ray Baretto. The San Francisco Bay chapter of the National Association of Composers will present a concert of new music, with chamber works by Anne Baldwin, Greg Bartholomew, John Bilotta, Sondra Clark, Nancy Bloomer Deussen, Ben Hippen and Karl Schmidt. 'Les Miserables'
For its latest production, Peninsula Youth Theatre will take on the musical adaptation of Victor Hugo's classic "Les Miserables," a tale of love, valor and compassion set in 19th-century Paris. African Folk Tale and Poetry Slam
Elementary school teacher Ellen Clark will lead an event with African folk tales and poetry to raise awareness for the 16th annual Run for Zimbabwe Orphans and Fair on March 22. March 7, 1-2 p.m. Free. Linden Tree Books, 265 State St., Los Altos.
