'Sympathy for the Devil: Satan, Sin and the Underworld'
As Jackson Pollock�s painting "Lucifer" comes to Stanford�s Anderson Collection, this exhibit will explore the visual history of the devil and his realm from the 16th to the 20th century. Wednesday-Sunday, Aug. 20-Nov. 30, 11 a.m.-5 p.m.; Thursdays til 8 p.m. (starting Sept. 21, the center will also be open Mondays). Free. Cantor Arts Center, 328 Lomita Drive, Stanford.

'Water by the Spoonful'
TheatreWorks will put on a production of the Pulitzer Prize-winning drama, "Water by the Spoonful," a story about a community of strangers who find refuge in an online chat room. 'War of the Worlds'
This Stanford Repertory Theater production will re-create Orson Welles' 1938 radio broadcast of H.G. Wells' "The War of the Worlds," which tricked some listeners into believing there was an alien invasion.
